I was never a drinker, but I have always had food issues and find the comforting aspects of both alcohol and food to be similar.
Alcohol is definately comforting. That's what makes it so dangerous. You interpreted the words really well.
That would be a comfort for me if it didn't leave me hugging the toilet at the end of the night. ;)
I'm not one for drinking frequently, but I'm a big believer in doing it well when the occasion comes around. A nice glass of Scotch is definitely comfort.
